Our PVC and hybrid windows come in four configurations, and each one has its strengths. The right choice depends less on taste than on how the room is used, which way the wall faces and what’s directly in front of the window. Here’s how to sort it out.
The PVC casement window
It opens outward with a crank, like a door. When closed, the sash is pressed against the frame: it’s the most airtight configuration, and the one that lets in the most air when opened wide. An excellent choice for the living room, bedrooms and any hard-to-reach spot, such as behind a kitchen counter.
The PVC awning window
Same mechanism, but the sash is hinged at the top. That means it can stay partly open during a rain shower without letting water in. It’s often installed in basements and bathrooms, or in a row above a door or fixed window to provide ventilation without sacrificing the view.
The PVC slider window
The sash slides sideways and never projects past the wall. It’s the solution when the window opens onto a balcony, patio, sidewalk or entryway: nothing gets in the way. It’s also very easy to operate day to day.
The PVC single hung window
The sash lifts vertically. It’s the model with a classic look, one that respects the façade of a traditional or heritage-style home without giving up the performance of a new window.
Two things to keep in mind
- Performance: our products are ENERGY STAR certified, which reduces heat loss and improves comfort all year round.
- Colour: the paint is applied right at our plant, for a durable finish, custom colours and maximum UV protection. That means you can coordinate several configurations on the same façade.
