Overheating can occur when outdoor temperatures are high and window coverings (for example, the blackout shade in your bedroom) are left closed. In summer, many people keep their shades closed to stop the sun from heating up the house. However, when the shade is installed inside the frame, the temperature between the window and the shade can become very high because the heat is trapped there.
In extreme cases, this could warp the PVC and lead to major repairs. We want to help you avoid the worst!
A few tips can help, such as:
- Opening shades, blinds and curtains (the most effective option!)
- Installing your shades outside the frame
- If your shades must stay closed: opening the window and ventilating as much as possible during the day.
- Choosing lightweight fabrics or materials that let heat circulate instead of trapping it.
