Here’s what we recommend doing ahead of installation day. It will both make the installers’ job easier and reduce the risk of an unpleasant incident.
To make your installers’ job easier :
- Remove all your window coverings: curtains, shades, blinds, screens, etc.!
- Make it easy for them to move from room to room. Clear the path between rooms and move a few pieces of furniture if needed to give easy access to the windows.
- They’ll need to move around outside your home. If you have a locked fence, unlock it before they arrive.
- Do you have an alarm system? Notify your provider and check whether it’s best to disconnect it for the duration of the work.
To save yourself a lot of worry :
- Cover the furniture around the work area. Although the installers will be careful not to damage anything, the work will certainly create some dust.
- Put away anything near your windows that could be accidentally damaged, both inside and outside your home: picture frames, light fixtures, flower pots, decorative vases, etc.
- Make sure your pets are in a closed room, especially if they tend to run outside whenever they get the chance.
