Things to Do Before the Installers Arrive
Here’s what we recommend you do in preparation for installation day. This will both simplify the installers’ task and reduce the risk of an unpleasant incident occurring.
To make your installers’ work easier, do the following:
- Remove everything that covers your windows: curtains, canvas, blinds, screens, etc.
- Make it easier for them to move from one room to another. Clear the way between rooms, and move some furniture if necessary to make it easier for them to get to the windows.
- They’ll have to move around outside your home. If you have a locked fence, unblock it before they arrive.
- If you have an alarm system, notify your supplier, and check whether it’s best to disconnect it for the duration of the work.
To save yourself a lot of trouble, do the following:
- Cover the furniture around the work area. Although the installers will be careful not to damage anything, the work will undoubtedly cause a bit of dust.
- Put away anything that could be accidentally damaged near your windows, whether indoors or outdoors: picture frames, light fixtures, flower pots, decorative vases, and so on.
- Make sure your pets are in an enclosed room, especially if they tend to flee outside at the first opportunity.
